6 Surprising Benefits of Using a Blender

It’s no big secret that we’re fans of blending. We use ours every single day for everything from smoothies to soups, dips and salsa. Why do we love this staple kitchen appliance so much? Not only is it versatile, but it offers so many other benefits as well, including:

1. Major Timesaver

Blenders are a major timesaver. Just add all of your ingredients to the jug, put on the lid and blend away. It takes less than five minutes to make most smoothies.

Blending is especially quick compared to juicing. You can easily spend 30-40 minutes prepping fruits and vegetables for juicing. Blending literally takes just minutes.

2. Clean-up is a Breeze

Clean-up is easy, too, when you’re blending. Once you’ve blended up your smoothie (or whatever it is you’re making), all you have to do is rinse out the jug and toss it in the dishwasher. Depending on the type of blender you have, you may have to wash the jug by hand, but this should still only take 5 minutes tops.

Although juicers are just as easy to clean, the entire juicing process tends to leave a giant mess behind. We’re always left with a counter full of fruit peels, stems and pits. And if you’re juicing something like beets, clean-up needs to be done as quickly as possible.

3. More Fiber

The great thing about blending is that you still get the fiber from your fruits and vegetables. Fiber is necessary for healthy digestion, and helps eliminate toxins from the body.

When you juice, you don’t get any fiber from your foods. All of that nutritious fiber is left behind in the pile of leftover pulp.

And because you maintain all the fiber in the food, you don’t experience the same blood sugar spike that you would get with juicing.

4. Incredibly Versatile

Blenders can do more than just make smoothies. You can use this small kitchen appliance to blend soups, dips, salsa, sauces and more. It’s incredibly versatile and doesn’t take up much space in your kitchen.

5. Get Your Daily Intake of Fruits and Vegetables

It’s not always easy to get all of the fruits and vegetables your body needs with each meal. Blending makes it easy to get all the nutrients you need, and because blending is a major timesaver, you’re far more likely to stick to this healthy habit.

In addition to fruits and vegetables, you can also add super foods, like maca, spirulina, chlorella, goji berries, cacao, flax seeds, chia seeds and protein powder.

We like to add a day’s serving of greens, like broccoli, bok choy, spinach and kale, to our afternoon smoothie for an extra energy kick and effortless lunch.

6. Less Wasteful

Compared to juicing, blending is far less wasteful. And you can leave nearly all parts of the food intact when blending. The peels and skin of most fruits and vegetables contain a large percentage of the food’s nutrients, and they can be blended right into your smoothie. And because they’re broken down, they’re easier for your body to digest.

There are so many benefits to using a blender, and we firmly believe that every kitchen should have one. From healthy smoothies to soups, sauces and everything in between will, there are so many ways to incorporate your blender into your daily food routine.
